Skin Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new treatment to reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and improve the skin’s overall appearance. In this procedure tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles,improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. Skin Needling may also be combined with a topical treatment, like PRP (platelet rich plasma) or another vitamin-rich serum. Skin needling is a great treatment for darker skin types as well because it doesn’t involve peels or lasers, which can cause pigmentation.
